15 (A)Blow a trumpet in Zion,
(B)Consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,
16 Gather the people, (C)sanctify the congregation,
Assemble the elders,
Gather the children and the nursing infants.
Have the (D)groom come out of his room
And the bride out of her bridal chamber.
17 Let the priests, the Lords ministers,
Weep (E)between the porch and the altar,
And let them say, “[a](F)Spare Your people, Lord,
And do not make Your inheritance a (G)disgrace,
With the nations jeering at them.
Why should those among the peoples say,
(H)Where is their God?’”

Deliverance Promised

18 Then the Lord [b]will be (I)zealous for His land,
And [c]will have (J)compassion for His people.
19 The Lord [d]will answer and say to His people,
“Behold, I am going to (K)send you grain, new wine, and oil,
And you will be satisfied in full with [e]them;
And I will (L)never again make you a disgrace among the nations.
20 But I will remove the (M)northern army far from you,
And I will drive it into a dry and desolate land,
Its advance guard into the (N)eastern sea,
And its rear guard into the (O)western sea.
And its (P)stench will ascend and its odor of decay will come up,
Because it has done great things.”

21 (Q)Do not fear, land; shout for joy and rejoice,
For the Lord has done (R)great things.
22 Do not fear, animals of the field,
For the (S)pastures of the wilderness have turned green,
For the tree has produced its fruit,
The fig tree and the vine have yielded [f]in full.
23 So shout for joy, you (T)sons of Zion,
And (U)rejoice in the Lord your God;
For He has (V)given you [g]the early rain for your vindication.
And He has brought down for you the rain,
The [h]early and [i](W)latter rain [j]as before.
24 The threshing floors will be full of grain,
And the vats will (X)overflow with the new wine and oil.
25 “Then I will compensate you for the years
That the [k]swarming (Y)locust has eaten,
The creeping locust, the stripping locust, and the gnawing locust—
My great army which I sent among you.
26 You will have plenty to (Z)eat and be satisfied,
And you will (AA)praise the name of the Lord your God,
Who has (AB)dealt wondrously with you;
Then My people will (AC)never be put to shame.
27 So you will (AD)know that I am in the midst of Israel,
And that I am the Lord your God
And there is (AE)no other;
And My people will never be (AF)put to shame.

The Promise of the Spirit

28 [l](AG)It will come about after this
That I will (AH)pour out My Spirit on all [m](AI)mankind;
And your sons and your daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will have dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
29 And even on the (AJ)male and female servants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

The Day of the Lord

30 I will [n](AK)display wonders in the sky and on the earth,
Blood, fire, and columns of smoke.
31 The (AL)sun will be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the (AM)great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
32 And it will come about that (AN)everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
Will [o]be saved;
For (AO)on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
There will be those who (AP)escape,
Just as the Lord has said,
Even among the (AQ)survivors whom the Lord calls.

Instruction for the Church

20 (A)Brothers and sisters, (B)do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil (C)be infants, but in your thinking be mature. 21 In (D)the [a]Law it is written: “(E)By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to Me,” says the Lord. 22 So then, tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but (F)prophecy is not for unbelievers, but for those who believe. 23 Therefore if the whole church gathers together and all the people speak in tongues, and [b]outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that (G)you are insane? 24 But if all (H)prophesy, and an unbeliever or an [c]outsider enters, he is (I)convicted by all, he is called to account by all; 25 (J)the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will (K)fall on his face and worship God, (L)declaring that God is certainly among you.

26 (M)What is the outcome then, (N)brothers and sisters? When you assemble, (O)each one has a (P)psalm, has a (Q)teaching, has a (R)revelation, has a (S)tongue, has an (T)interpretation. (U)All things are to be done for edification. 27 If anyone speaks in a (V)tongue, it must be by two or at the most three, and each one in turn, and one is to (W)interpret; 28 but if there is no interpreter, he is to keep silent in church; and have him speak to himself and to God. 29 Have two or three (X)prophets speak, and have the others (Y)pass judgment. 30 But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, then the first one is to keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be [d]exhorted; 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33 for God is not a God of (Z)confusion, but of peace.

As in (AA)all the churches of the [e](AB)saints, 34 the women are to (AC)keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but (AD)are to subject themselves, just as (AE)the Law also says. 35 If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is [f]improper for a woman to speak in church. 36 Or was it from you that the word of God first went out? Or has it come to you only?

37 (AF)If anyone thinks that he is a prophet or (AG)spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you (AH)are the Lord’s commandment. 38 But if anyone does not recognize this, [g]he is not recognized.

39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, (AI)earnestly desire to (AJ)prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But (AK)all things must be done properly and in an orderly way.

The Nations Will Be Judged

[a]For behold, (A)in those days and at that time,
When I (B)restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
I will (C)gather all the nations
And bring them down to the (D)Valley of [b]Jehoshaphat.
Then I will (E)enter into judgment with them there
On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,
Whom they have (F)scattered among the nations;
And they have (G)divided up My land.
They have also (H)cast lots for My people,
[c](I)Traded a boy for a prostitute,
And sold a girl for wine so that they may drink.

Moreover, what are you to Me, (J)Tyre, Sidon, and all the regions of (K)Philistia? Are you repaying Me with retribution? But if you are showing Me retribution, swiftly and speedily I will (L)return your retribution on your head! Since you have (M)taken My silver and My gold, brought My precious [d]treasures to your temples, and sold the (N)sons of Judah and Jerusalem to the [e]Greeks in order to remove them far from their territory, behold, I am going to (O)stir them up from the place where you have sold them, and return your retribution on your head. I will also (P)sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the sons of Judah, and they will sell them to the (Q)Sabeans, to a distant nation,” for the Lord has spoken.

(R)Proclaim this among the nations:
(S)Prepare for holy war; (T)stir up the warriors!
Have all the soldiers come forward, have them come up!
10 (U)Beat your plowshares into swords,
And your pruning hooks into spears;
(V)Let the weak man say, “I am a warrior.”
11 [f](W)Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations,
And gather yourselves there.
Bring down, Lord, Your (X)warriors.
12 Let the nations be awakened
And come up to the (Y)Valley of [g]Jehoshaphat,
For there I will sit to (Z)judge
All the surrounding nations.
13 (AA)Put in the sickle, for the (AB)harvest is ripe.
Come, (AC)tread the grapes, for the (AD)wine press is full;
The vats overflow, for their (AE)wickedness is great.
14 (AF)Multitudes, multitudes in the (AG)valley of [h]decision!
For the (AH)day of the Lord is near in the valley of [i]decision.
15 The (AI)sun and moon have become dark,
And the stars have lost their brightness.
16 The Lord (AJ)roars from Zion
And (AK)utters His voice from Jerusalem,
And the (AL)heavens and the earth quake.
But the Lord is a (AM)refuge for His people,
And a (AN)stronghold for the sons of Israel.
17 Then you will (AO)know that I am the Lord your God,
Dwelling on Zion, My (AP)holy mountain.
So Jerusalem will be (AQ)holy,
And (AR)strangers will no longer pass through it.

Judah Will Be Blessed

18 And on that day
The (AS)mountains will drip with [j]sweet wine,
And the hills will (AT)flow with milk,
And all the (AU)brooks of Judah will flow with water;
And a (AV)spring will go out from the house of the Lord
And water the Valley of [k]Shittim.
19 Egypt will become a wasteland,
And Edom will become a desolate wilderness,
Because of the (AW)violence [l]done to the sons of Judah,
In whose land they have shed innocent blood.
20 But Judah will be (AX)inhabited forever,
And Jerusalem for all generations.
21 And I will (AY)avenge their blood which I have not avenged,
For the Lord dwells in Zion.

The Fact of Christ’s Resurrection

15 Now (A)I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the (B)gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, (C)in which you also stand, by which you also are saved, (D)if you hold firmly to [a]the word which I preached to you, (E)unless you believed in vain.

For (F)I handed down to you [b]as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died (G)for our sins (H)according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was (I)raised on the third day (J)according to the Scriptures, and that (K)He appeared to [c](L)Cephas, then (M)to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some (N)have fallen asleep; then He appeared to [d](O)James, then to (P)all the apostles; and last of all, as [e]to one untimely born, (Q)He appeared to me also. For I am (R)the least of the apostles, [f]and not fit to be called an apostle, because I (S)persecuted the church of God. 10 But by (T)the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I (U)labored even more than all of them, yet (V)not I, but the grace of God with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there (W)is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised; 14 and (X)if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain. 15 Moreover, we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified [g]against God that He (Y)raised [h]Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; (Z)you are still in your sins. 18 Then also those who (AA)have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ only in this life, we are (AB)of all people most to be pitied.

The Order of Resurrection

20 But the fact is, Christ (AC)has been raised from the dead, the (AD)first fruits of those who (AE)are asleep. 21 For since (AF)by a man death came, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For (AG)as in Adam all die, so also in [i]Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ (AH)the first fruits, after that (AI)those who are Christ’s at (AJ)His coming, 24 then comes the end, when He hands over (AK)the kingdom to our (AL)God and Father, when He has abolished (AM)all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign (AN)until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be (AO)abolished is death. 27 For (AP)He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when He says, “(AQ)All things are put in subjection,” it is clear that [j]this excludes the Father who put all things in subjection to Him. 28 When (AR)all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that (AS)God may be all in all.

29 For otherwise, what will those do who are baptized [k]for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized [l]for them? 30 Why are we also (AT)in danger every hour? 31 I affirm, brothers and sisters, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, that (AU)I die daily. 32 If [m]from human motives I (AV)fought with wild beasts at (AW)Ephesus, what good is it to me? If the dead are not raised, (AX)lets eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. 33 (AY)Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” 34 (AZ)Sober up [n]morally and stop sinning, for some have (BA)no knowledge of God. (BB)I say this to your shame.
